Description

This Dry Meadow Flower Mix brings together flowers selected for their tolerance to summer drought. Robust and undemanding, they grow without care in any type of soil and offer beautiful flowering from the first year, while providing shelter and food for many beneficial insects. The seeds will be sown directly in place, in late summer or spring, in a well-prepared soil. The flower bed will bloom for several years, from spring to summer.

This selection consists of 29 species of perennial and annual plants. The annuals flower 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, while the perennial plants, which live for several years, will flower from the second spring. All these plants show rather rapid growth and some self-seed spontaneously in the garden, in ordinary and well-draining soil. The height of the flowering plants varies from 30 to 60 cm (11.8 to 23.6 in).

Partial composition: Nigella damascena, Wallflower, Echium plantagineum, Perennial flax, etc.

The wildflower meadow combines usefulness with pleasure: flowering throughout the summer season, diverse and colourful and requiring very little maintenance, it promotes biodiversity and brings the charm of the countryside to the garden. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes near the house, along a path, in a slightly neglected area of the garden, on the bank that borders a sunken path, or in the back of the garden at the border with the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in place, broadcast like grass, from September to October or from March to May, in a soil that is well worked with a spade, free from weeds, refined and raked. Sow finely on the surface of the soil and lightly rake to cover the seeds. Optionally, pass the roller to ensure good adhesion of the seeds to the ground. Germination usually takes 14 to 30 days. Regularly water with a fine rain to keep the soil slightly moist until germination.

Cultivation:

When young plants appear, water well and remove weeds. Water regularly. Once well established, plants generally rely on rainfall. Only water in dry and hot periods during summer. In autumn, at the end of flowering, the slope can be mowed to 10 or 20 cm (3.9 or 7.9 in) above the ground.
