And even 3 feet since June 2020! Can't compare to Lili Marleen much taller. Awkward in a flowerbed.

The Rigo Rosen Rose Black Forest Rose is a new variety with clustered flowers that blooms profusely from late spring until October, featuring a harmonious habit and excellent natural resistance to rose diseases, including in rainy climates. Its semi-double roses are a very bright cherry red, blooming in generous clusters, enhanced by a dark foliage of deep forest green. This low but graceful bush provides continuous summer flowering. Similar to its predecessor Lili Marlène, created in 1959 by Kordes, this 'Sans Contrainte®' rose, nearly maintenance-free, is simply perfect for creating borders and sunny flower beds, for landscaping small spaces or patios.
Â
The Black Forest Rose 'Korschwill' is a German creation by Kordes, dating back to 2010. It is part of a series of roses, the 'Rigo Rosen', selected in partnership with 'Globe Planter' for their truly exceptional disease resistance, their pretty groundcover habit, and their ability to bloom in all exposures, even in shade or in rainy and less sunny regions. All Rigo-Roses have obtained the ADR label. This 'Black Forest Rose' variety, in addition to the ADR label in 2010, has been awarded gold medals in Glasgow (Scotland), La Tacita (Spain), and Courtrai (Belgium). This rose is classified as a floribunda rose. It quickly forms a compact and branching bush, with a slightly spreading habit and thorny stems, reaching approximately 70 cm (28in) in height and 60 cm (24in) in width. It is covered with abundant foliage, a beautiful dark green, with dentate leaflets along the edges. Its flowering is abundant and continuous from June until October if the soil remains slightly moist in summer. Its wide corollas, measuring 5-6 cm (2in), are semi-double, composed of 25 petals, gathered in clusters of 5 to 7 flowers. The well-closed buds open into spherical flowers, with petals curved in shells, gradually blooming into flatter and well-opened cups with a small yellow heart. The petals are shiny and a very beautiful cherry red with a slight pink hue. The deciduous foliage falls in autumn.
Â
Floribunda roses are great for creating beautiful small hedges, planted mixed along the patio or in small shrub beds. Combine them with abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris, for example. They are good companions for panicled phlox and baby's breath. The modest size, generosity, and resistance of 'Black Forest Rose' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones, and for growing in large pots. Its use is versatile, according to each gardener's desires: in a rose bed, alongside white varieties (Marie Pavie, Swanny), or mauve ones (Blue Boy, Rhapsody in Blue), or mixed with easy-care perennials like perennial geraniums, catmints, bellflowers, or asters.

Botanical data
Plant the 'Black Forest Rose' rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-prepared, and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clay soils that are rather heavy than light. In soils that are too sandy, compact, or dry in summer, it is preferable to incorporate compost, decomposed manure, or humjus at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dislikes waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny location, preferably in partial shade. Roses are hungry plants, and a specific fertiliser application will be beneficial at the start of vegetation, and regularly throughout the flowering period.
To encourage reblooming, regularly remove faded old flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, prune the stems by about a quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) in late winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud to allow the bush to bush out and prevent the branches from tangling in the centre of the branches.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
