Rare bulbs are not necessarily the hardest to grow! They are rare because of their shape, cross-breeding, colour, and/or fragrance but they all possess a touch of originality. Growing them in pots is generally preferable as most of them are sensitive to frost. Prepare a good substrate and choose the right pot diameter by referring to the product care sheet. These bulbs include Amarcrinum Howardii, which magnificent with its large, highly scented pink inflorescences, is the result of a cross-breeding between an Amaryllis and a Crinum. Eucomis bicolor alba, also known as Pineapple Lily, is very unique with its 20cm (8in) tall floral spike covered in small white star-shaped flowers and topped with a bouquet of bracts, which earned it the name "beautiful with hair". Sprekelia formosissima or St. James's Lily, has very original 12cm (5in) diameter blood red flowers and medium green foliage with an erect habit. It is said that this flower is the model for the Lily, the symbol of the kings of France.
