Our range of perennial Begonias. These perennial Begonias, valued for their decorative leaves and long flowering, are perfect for adding a splash of colour to shaded gardens. Unlike the florist's Begonias such as trailing, semperflorens or 'Super Olympia', which are grown as annuals, perennial Begonias withstand the cold quite well and return every year. Begonia grandis evansiana is one of the most well-known varieties, with its large dark green leaves with red undersides and clusters of pink flowers. Begonia Silver Moon delights with its silver-marbled foliage. B. sutherlandii, with its orange flowers, withstands temperatures as low as -6/-8°C. It brings vibrant colour to shaded spots.
Perennial Begonias prefer a semi-shaded or shaded location and humus-bearing, moist but well-drained soil. They are particularly resistant to diseases and are low-maintenance, requiring simply regular watering and protection from severe frosts in winter. They adapt well to woodland conditions, borders, and beds that are not exposed to full sun.
