Helianthus

Helianthus is a highly appreciated and well-known genus for its annual varieties. The perennial varieties have a bad reputation, mainly due to the wild species that were once offered, which had a tendency to invade the entire garden because of their long running rhizomes. The plants we offer are either non-running or have very minimal running habits. Their great appeal lies in their late flowering, which falls between the summer perennials that are finishing their blooming and the autumn ones that are just starting theirs. Easy to grow and completely hardy in all regions, these tall perennial sunflowers love light but, like many tall perennials, they require sufficient moisture in the soil during the flowering period. The flowers have good longevity and are highly appreciated in bouquets.
