Description

The walleriana species is a very floriferous Impatiens with double flowers. Its flowers are of a very pure white. It blooms from May to October.

Impatiens are the ideal plants to brighten up a shady or semi-shady corner. In a pot on a terrace or in a bed at the foot of a tree, they bring freshness, charm, and elegance. The double walleriana Impatiens have a compact and well-branched habit. The finely toothed, pointed oval leaves are shiny green.

They can also be grown indoors as perennials. In this case, it is advisable to cut them back in spring.

Young plants measuring 4 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in plug plants of 5 small plugs with a diameter of 2.8cm (1in) and a height of 4cm (2in). Our plants are at least eight weeks old and are strong enough to be planted in the ground.

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them in protected areas (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before planting them outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your Impatiens wallerianas in the ground or in a pot. If you wish to plant them in the ground, wait until the frost has passed (Impatiens cannot tolerate frost, even mild ones). In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright location to accelerate their growth (be careful, not too much direct sunlight). Plant your impatiens in a shady or semi-shady area. They need a fairly rich soil that retains moisture. They are sensitive to drought. They will need regular watering during hot summer weather. Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertilizer for containers once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking attractive and extend the flowering period. Be careful, remember to protect them from slugs that enjoy their young leaves.
