Dwarf Japanese Maple

A selection of dwarf Japanese maples whose growth does not exceed 1.50m (5ft) in height. These deciduous shrubs are small in size and are ideal for small gardens or container cultivation. They are valued for their Japanese-inspired silhouette, their finely cut foliage, and their vibrant autumn colours. They thrive when grown in containers with appropriate substrates, just like the Acer palmatum 'Dissectum Garnet' or 'BloodGood', they are the undisputed stars of small urban gardens and shaded terraces in Japanese, contemporary, or zen styles.  The most commonly cultivated varieties belong mainly to the two species Acer japonicum and Acer palmatum. In the case of Japanese maple, the foliage is a major asset that comes in large, more or less palmate leaves, sometimes finely cut, with varying colours : purple in the Acer palmatum dissectum Atropurpureum, golden in the 'A. palmatum 'Aureum', orange in 'Orange Dream', pink or variegated, taking on sumptuous shades of reddish-orange to purple, even violet, which are extraordinary in autumn. 

Japanese maples generally prefer semi-shaded exposures and well-drained, slightly acidic, and moist soil.
