Red Japanese Maple

A selection of Japanese Maples with red foliage in spring and summer. In Japanese maples, red comes in a variety of shades, ranging from light pinkish-red to scarlet, garnet, coral, or copper tones. In autumn, their foliage turns brilliant, flamboyant, sometimes with purplish hues. Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' displays an incandescent red tone, while 'Firecracker' transitions from vibrant spring red to dark Bordeaux and then bright red in autumn. The Japanese Maple 'Garnet' dominates with its garnet red in summer. The cultivar 'Crimson Queen' fluctuates between red and pink, turning to deep purple in summer and scarlet in autumn. These deciduous small trees or large shrubs are well-known and universally appreciated for their silhouette and flamboyant autumn colours. Japanese maples offer beautiful diversity in terms of habit, foliage, and size. They thrive when grown in pots with suitable substrate, making them the undisputed stars of small urban gardens and shaded Japanese-style terraces, whether contemporary or zen-inspired. In Japanese maples foliage is a major asset, with large leaves that can be more or less palmate, sometimes intricately cut, and varying in colour from green to purple to gold, with variegated tones, or pink and salmon hues.

Japanese maples generally prefer partial shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil that remain moist.
