Iris Striking

Iris Striking has petals speckled and infused with orchid pink, nearly white sepals and white beards tipped with coral pink. It is a slightly reblooming variety.

Everyone knows Iris germanica, or Bearded Iris, which has become globally famous thanks to the paintings of Van Gogh and Monet. It owes its popularity to its unique design.

Its broad, sword-shaped leaves contrast with crumpled, multicoloured flowers that are held high. The flowers have three large upright petals and three silky, trailing sepals, called "beards". The flowering lasts a few weeks in May/June. This Iris has large, fleshy rhizomes that creep on the ground. It likes light, heat, and light, well-drained soils. It doesn't mind cold or summer drought, its enemy is wet, heavy soil. Superb in a sunny bed, it is also a beautiful cut flower.

It is very robust when exposed to full sun, in dry and well-drained soil.

Place Iris Striking in a bed or border with yarrow, alliums, stipas, or roses. It is better to plant them in groups of 3 or on their own instead of creating iris beds.
