The saffron crocus, or crocus sativus, is a beautiful perennial bulb that allows for saffron cultivation at home. The most well-known variety features charming blue flowers measuring about fifteen centimeters in size.
A precious and expensive spice, saffron stigmas can only be harvested by hand, which requires some patience as 100 crocus sativus bulbs produce 400 to 500 flowers, resulting in 10 to 15 grams of pure saffron.
To be planted in summer, before mid-September, in a sunny location with well-drained soil, your saffron flowers will bloom as early as this autumn.
We offer a range of different varieties, such as the White Crocus Cartwrightianus Albus, with pure white flowers, as well as other bulb collections. All of them produce saffron and, just like colchicums, they offer a remarkable blossom that will brighten up your garden in autumn.
You can order your bulbs with various sizes, 7+ or 8+, available for delivery starting from mid-July or on a date of your choice. For large orders for saffron growers, it is recommended to reserve your bulbs as early as spring.

It will vary according to where you live:

Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
