Healthy and fleshy plants, they have acclimated well and produce a charming, magnificent, and uninterrupted flowering since mid-July. I am very pleased with them and highly recommend them, especially with their very soft shades for a pastel-toned bed! The same goes for the superb Fujiyama Phlox!!

Description

Phlox paniculata 'Lichstpel' is a tall perennial that brings a lot of charm to summer borders. Its beautiful panicles are dotted with multiple small flowers of a very delicate pink highlighted by a deeper pink centre.  They bloom from July to August, attracting pollinators. Magnificent in bouquets, they will perfume your house.

Phlox paniculata are essential in all cottage gardens or gardens with a romantic feel. Their bushy habit is perfect for mixed borders. They have abundant, colourful, fragrant flowers and animate the borders with the coming and going of insects that are very fond of them. Don't hesitate to plant them in large numbers, they will allow you to create full and long-lasting bouquets. They appreciate moist, well-drained and rather rich soil. Their flowering is more spectacular in the sun, but they also thrive in partial shade. They are hardy and can withstand temperatures below -15°C (5°F). To enjoy a long flowering period, don't hesitate to remove faded flowers as they appear.

This vigorous herbaceous perennial has erect stems, reaching up to 90 cm (35in) in height, and bearing large panicles (10/15 cm (4/6in)) at their tips, consisting of multiple small flowers measuring 2 to 3 cm (1in) in diameter. Their corolla, with a long tubular base, abruptly opens into five lobes, forming a cup shape. 'Lichstpel' has two particularly adorable shades. The almost fuchsia pink that surrounds the centre enhances its porcelain complexion and is a very cheerful and delightful colour combination. It stands out perfectly against the medium green foliage, composed of deciduous, lanceolate, and alternate leaves, arranged regularly along the stems.

With a spread of 50 cm (20in), Phlox 'Lichstpel' makes a beautiful specimen for small gardens. It can be surrounded by Campanulas, Grasses, and bordered by perennial Geraniums, creating a slightly wild and pastel display. For a larger plant combinations, it can be mixed with other Phlox, Yarrows, Meadow-rues, in the company of old-fashioned roses and to create a lush ensemble.

Planting and care

Phlox paniculata are easy to grow plants. 'Lichstpel' will prefer a damp and rich soil, even clay which is well-drained. If your summers are hot and dry, water for the first year or mulch the base to protect it.  It can be planted in spring or autumn in a sunny position, but it also tolerates light shade.

Like most Phlox, it remains sensitive to powdery mildew. A preventive treatment can be beneficial.

Watch out for slugs in spring when vegetation appears and remove faded flowers during the season.

You can divide the stump every 3-4 years depending on its development.
