Our range of perry pear trees. Perry pear trees produce fruits rich in tannins and sugar, perfect for making delicious perry ciders. Varieties like 'Plant de Blanc', 'Poire de Fisée' and 'Gaubert' are often used in perry pear orchards to respectively bring sweetness, tannic structure, and balanced acidity to perry. The variety 'Fausset', also present in our selection, produces fruits with high sugar content, promoting a fermentation rich in aromas. The 'Poire de Grise' pear tree, a traditional variety, stands out for its small, tangy and aromatic fruits, bringing a unique touch to blends. The 'Poire de Cloche', on the other hand, is appreciated for its juicy and sweet flesh, ideal for softening ciders.
Pear trees require a sunny exposure and adapt to various types of soils, although they prefer deep and well-drained soils. Plant them in autumn, ensuring good staking in the first year. Regular watering is advised at the start. Perry pear trees are hardy and not very susceptible to diseases, but it is recommended to monitor codling moths.
