Our range of Laurier-cerise (Prunus laurocerasus), also known as cherry laurel, Trabzon laurel, almond laurel or laurel, is well-known as a dense and evergreen bush. Reflecting its variété, 'Rotundifolia', it is appreciated for its dark green, glossy, and tough feuillage, as well as its rapid croissance. It has given rise to several variétés of varying sizes with different feuillages.
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia' stands out with its large oval leaves and vigorous croissance, quickly reaching heights of 3 to 4 meters. This bush is ideal for quickly forming dense hedges. 'Caucasica' has an upright, narrow port, perfect for small gardens or confined spaces, reaching around 3 meters in height. 'Etna' is another popular variety, known for its broad port and coppery red young shoots in spring. It is particularly disease-resistant and can reach 2 meters in height. The Prunus laurocerasus 'Novita' combines fast croissance with good disease and cold resistance. Its leaves are broad, tough, and glossy. This cultivar is particularly suited to regions with harsh winters.
Cherry laurel adapts to a wide range of sols. It tolerates partial shade well but thrives in full sun. Annual taille is recommended, preferably after floraison, in spring or late summer. Cherry laurels can be sensitive to certain diseases like cylindrocladiosis, a fungus that causes leaf spots. Good air circulation and avoiding excess moisture can prevent this issue.
