Our range of Angelonia. Angelonias are annuals prized for their abundant and colourful flowering throughout the summer. Their flagship is Angelonia angustifolia, which stands out for its delicate flower spikes in various shades. The variety 'Angelface Carrara White', with an upright habit, offers pure white flowers, ideal for brightening up borders or containers. 'Archangel Dark Purple' features large purple flowers and a compact habit.
Angelonia angustifolia is a plant of the snapdragon family, native to Mexico, Central America, and tropical South America. It is frost-sensitive and grown as an annual in our climates. It has given rise to numerous cultivars, which all have good heat tolerance and seem to be unattractive to insects and diseases. Angelonia grows in clumps and flowers continuously from June to October. Its upright flower spikes are adorned with numerous two-lipped flowers that resemble both small orchids and snapdragons. In mild climates, Angelonia can self-seed in light soil.
Angelonias thrive in full sun and tolerate heat and drought well, making them perfect for hot climates. They prefer well-drained soil rich in organic matter. To maintain them, water regularly during the growing season and prune faded flowers to encourage new blooms.
