Description

This mix of dentate Tulips brings together different varieties whose flowers are delicately fringed at the edges, in a beautiful range of pastel or brighter colours. Carried by long rigid stems, these tulips are impeccable in borders, flower beds or bouquets. Flowering between April and May, they will announce the beauty of spring.

The Dentate Tulip belongs to the family of liliaceae. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in the 'Crispa' group, whose main characteristic is to have finely dentate petal ends. This majestic tulip reaches a height of between 40 and 50 cm (16 and 20in) when in bloom. The flowering takes place in April-May, a little later than that of other tulips. The flowers are single, with a slightly open cup shape. The fringed edges of this magnificent tulip give it a unique personality. The flowers last a long time in a vase or in the garden and allow the tulip season to be extended until May. The basal, lanceolate foliage is glaucous green in colour. It yellows and dries a few weeks after flowering, when the bulb enters a resting period.

In the world of flowers, there is truly nothing comparable to dentate tulips to spice up your garden in spring with something unique. Ideal in flower beds, Dentate Tulips enhance all other flowers, in harmony of colours. They emerge from the flower beds, while harmoniously blending with perennials and bulbs, in the company of biennial plants that will fill the space after their flowering. You can choose forget-me-nots or wallflowers for this purpose. By choosing dentate tulips, you will add a unique touch to your bouquets.

Note: Each batch is unique and the proportion of colors may vary significantly depending on the batches.

Planting and care

Plant Crispa tulip bulbs in the autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm (6in), spacing them 10 cm (4in) apart. The planting should be done in ordinary soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining. Never add undecomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. Tulips will thrive in moist to dry soil in the summer. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded location. Once flowering is complete, it is preferable to remove the fruits to avoid exhausting the plant. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
