Primevère double Candy Frost - Primula vulgaris
I already ordered Primula Belarina last year and they took very well (except for one ????) and bloomed wonderfully. So, I'm falling for them again this year. Plants are very vigorous in mini pots. They should take root without any problem.

Primula vulgaris Belarina Candy Frost is a lovely new variety with fully double flowers. The plant usually blooms from January to April. Its corollas are a fairly deep pink, bordered and speckled with what appears to be white frost. The flowers are long-lasting and abundant, opening on a small, round, and regular clump of large, shiny green leaves. Once stars of cottage gardens, double primroses had almost disappeared. New varieties are bringing these adorable biennials back to the forefront, much to our delight! They are perfect in pots, flower boxes, flower beds, and borders, and can even grow in the shade in fertile and moist soil.
Primula Belarina Candy Frost is an herbaceous perennial plant from the Primulaceae family, derived from the perennial P. vulgaris. It is part of a series of recent creations that stand out with their uniform and compact growth, their flowering from December-January to March-April, their doubled corollas, and their vibrant and unique colours. In just a few months, these floriferous plants form lovely clumps of dense foliage, reaching a height of 15 to 20cm (6 to 8in) and a width of 25 to 30cm (10 to 12in). They develop rosettes of corrugated and veined leaves, in a beautiful vibrant green, which persist throughout winter. Candy Frost produces 3cm (1in) diameter bright pink flowers. It blooms for 4 to 5 weeks. They are fully double, resembling small roses. Each petal is finely bordered and speckled with white in the centre. The flowers are gathered in perfect bouquets, carried by slightly hairy short peduncles that barely emerge from the luxuriant foliage.
Belarina primroses are perennials often planted as biennials. They deserve a place in all gardens and on all balconies. Colourful and floriferous, they announce and precede the return of spring. They look wonderful in flower bed borders or in flower boxes on a balcony. These small plants are ideal companions for tulips, pansies, horned violets, and forget-me-nots. They can blend in with snowdrops and violets underneath deciduous trees, in rock gardens, and lawns. The leaves and flowers are edible and can be consumed raw or cooked.
Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant them as soon as possible in pots and flower boxes, or directly in flower beds.

Botanical data
Plant in September-October, upon receipt of the plug plants. Plant in pots and containers. Alternatively, plant them directly in the ground in finely prepared and enriched soil. If the planned location is not yet ready, or the conditions are unfavourable for planting, you can let them grow in pots for 4 to 6 weeks.
In pots and containers, use good soil for flowering plants (such as geranium compost) enriched with clay and slow-release fertiliser. The soil should be light and well-draining. The top of the plug should be level with the soil. Water generously upon planting and during the following weeks, as the plug plants can dry out quickly. However, be careful with excess water! Use containers with drainage holes and empty the saucer 10 minutes after watering. Water even during winter if it doesn't rain, or if the container is placed in a sheltered spot. Do not water during freezing periods.
They are fast-growing and produce an abundance of blooms, making them hungry plants. As soon as growth resumes, at the end of February or beginning of March, and throughout the flowering period, apply a liquid fertiliser for flowering plants containing iron and trace elements 1 to 2 times a week with the watering water. Remove faded flowers to encourage new blooms. Once the flowering is over, container-grown plants can be replanted in the garden in partial shade.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
