The trenching pickaxe is a fairly heavy tool, composed of a steel head attached to a hardwood handle by a socket joint. It is one of the oldest tools in the world and is primarily used for heavy garden work such as landscaping, stump removal, and stone and rock extraction. It is the perfect tool for preparing very hard and rocky soils before cultivation. Its metal head, mounted at a 90-degree (194°F) angle to the handle, has two sides, one ending in a sharp point for removing large roots, rocks, and compacting hard and stony soils. The other side is profiled as a rectangular blade with a sharp edge for breaking up, digging, and weeding looser soils. This model is equipped with a forged steel head, fully hardened for better wear resistance. Its round socket joint ensures a perfectly stable connection between the head and the handle, and easy replacement of the handle. The wood for its handle comes from sustainably managed forests, certified 100% PEFC. Its perforated end allows for hanging storage. The handle, terminating in a knob, allows for more efficient use as a lever. This tool is assembled in France.
