The  Leborgne Terracotta Pickaxe with a Wooden Handle is a large, excellent value hand tool, designed for beginner and amateur gardeners! Its head has two distinct but long and thin sides, perfect for digging, shaping, and preparing even hard and rocky soils. The pointed side is used to break the superficial crust of the soil, open it up, and extract stumps and stones. The other side is a rectangular blade with a particularly sharp cutting edge, useful for digging and cutting obstructing roots. It is sturdy, made of a highly resistant forged iron blade mounted on a thick round socket on a eucalyptus wood handle, both strong and lightweight. Made in France, replacement parts available. 8-year warranty.

Dimensions: Weight: 2 kg - Handle length: 90 cm (35in)

The terracotta pickaxe is quite a heavy tool, composed of a steel head fixed by a socket to a hardwood handle. It is one of the oldest tools in the world and is mainly used for heavy garden work such as terracing, stump removal, and stone extraction. It is the perfect tool for preparing hard and rocky soils before cultivation. Its metal head, mounted at a 90-degree (194°F) angle to the handle, has two sides, one ending in a sharp point for extracting large roots and rocks, and loosening hard and rocky soils. It works to break and penetrate the hard crust that forms on the surface of bare, untended ground. The other side is profiled as a rectangular blade with a sharp edge for cutting, digging, and weeding soils once loosened. This model is equipped with a forged iron head. Its round socket with a diameter of 48 mm (2in) ensures a perfectly stable connection between the head and the handle and easy replacement of the handle. The wood of its handle comes from sustainably managed forests, certified 100% PEFC. Its perforated end allows for hanging storage. The apple-shaped handle end allows for more efficient use as a lever. This tool is assembled in France.
