This is a robust and durable garden tool thanks to its galvanised steel structure. It is equipped with a wide 5-tooth head, a foot support area, and angled handles for a better grip. This organic fork allows you to loosen and aerate the soil without turning it over while preserving its structure and the living organisms that make it fertile. Efficient, ergonomic, and eco-friendly, it is an essential tool for gardeners who want to engage in a sustainable and renewable organic gardening approach!

The 5-tine galvanised metal biofork by De Pypere is a sturdy and exceptionally durable garden tool that does not rust. Similar to a cultivator, it loosens and aerates the soil without turning it over, preserving its physical structure and avoiding disturbance to the rich biotope. Thanks to its wide head, it can be used on larger surfaces. Appreciated for its ergonomics, this fork with handlebars offers great comfort during use, allowing the gardener to work standing up with minimal effort. This model is also suitable for heavy, clayey, and compacted soils.

The classic fork is originally a complementary tool to the spade, designed to loosen, aerate, and crumble the soil deeply in small areas. It is much better suited than the spade for working with clayey or heavy and compacted soils. This De Pypere model is a type of fork with a very wide head equipped with 5 tines, a crossbar doubled with a foot support area, and two long handles. Its structure is made of galvanised steel, a process that involves covering the metal with a layer of zinc, which prevents steel corrosion. This type of cultivator loosens the soil to a depth of about 20 cm, simply by penetrating with the sturdy and sharp tines. Unlike the spade or tiller, this garden tool does not mix the different layers of soil, does not disturb microbial life, and does not cut earthworms, which are essential for soil health and fertility. The surface layer of the soil is rich in humus composed of decomposing plant matter, which is highly nutritious for plants. Invertebrates, insects, bacteria, and fungi that are involved in this process require oxygen, and they suffocate when the soil is turned over, while the deeper, poorer layer ends up on the surface. Use the fork to prepare the soil before sowing or planting. Thanks to its 90 cm handles, you can work with a straight back, minimising the strain on the back muscles, even during intensive use, and reducing the risk of stiffness or pain. The ends of the handles are curved at a right angle outward, which facilitates grip.

Using it requires a little practice:

  • Push it into the soil by sliding your foot at the level of the crossbar of the head
  • Then pull it towards you by lowering the handles to hip height (The curvature of the tines lifts the clod of soil by simply pulling the handles towards oneself using a lever effect).
  • Make a small alternating lifting movement on each side.
