This Leborgne spade with wooden handle is an exceptionally robust and practical tool for deep preparation of loose, stone-free soil. Its head consists of a 2.3mm thick blade made entirely of hardened steel for better wear resistance and longevity. Its sharpened rounded cutting edge and footrests facilitate soil penetration and turning. It is a perfect tool for soil preparation before planting, transplanting, dividing perennial stumps, and incorporating fertiliser and manure. Additionally, the blade is mounted on a socket ensuring a stable connection and easy handle replacement. Available with a crutch handle. The handle is available as a spare part.
Dimensions:
- Spade blade = 28 x 20cm (11 x 8in)
- Blade thickness = 2.3mm
- Handle length = 100cm (39in)
- Weight: 1kg
The spade is an essential tool, designed for lifting, turning, and loosening and crumbling the soil deeply, in non-stony soils and on small surfaces. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time it is turned. With its sharp edges, it is also used for digging, cutting roots, or uprooting certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). This model is equipped with a steel head that is fully hardened, giving it a hardness rating of 40/50 HRC and exceptional wear resistance. Its sharpened cutting edge easily penetrates all soils that are not too compact and not very stony. This edge is specially rounded for quick and efficient soil turning. The footrests help you to drive the tool into the ground without cutting your boots. Its lightweight handle, made of 100% PEFC certified wood, is sold as a separate part and is very easy to replace. Its apple-shaped form makes it easy to use as a lever while providing power to the manoeuvres.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
