A specific tool, with an ash handle ending in a ball and a steel head with two long prongs, ideal for uprooting thistles and other undesirable herbaceous plants with taproots. Its 48cm (19in) handle requires its use in a squatting position.

This De Pypere Thistle Extractor with a ball handle is a tool specifically designed to remove thistles and other unwanted plants with long taproots. Its steel head is equipped with two long pointed teeth that easily penetrate the soil to dislodge the root. Its ash handle is relatively short, making it easier to use in a crouched position. Manoeuverable, sturdy, and precise, this is a high-quality and durable tool that will accompany the gardener for many years.

Handle length: 48cm (19in).

This weeder has an ash handle, known for its hardness and lightness, with a metal socket where the head is attached. The two flat teeth of the head, arranged in a fork, have sharp and cutting edges. Forged from tempered steel, it is resistant to both shocks and torsion. The narrow head easily slips between plants or into the lawn to dislodge the "weeds" that can be collected and eliminated. The two teeth penetrate the soil, just at the plant's collar. The operation can be repeated all around the collar to limit the root's spread. A rotating movement will usually be enough to dislodge the root, either entirely or partially. This is a small hand tool suitable for relatively light substrates. This thistle extractor allows for precise work, including between stones in a rockery or in a narrow border. Remember to work in a crouched position if you are working in a traditional flower bed to protect your back. The handle is compostable, and the metal head is recyclable. Among the unwanted plants with taproots, whose root resembles a narrow carrot, we can mention thistles, dandelions, dandelion clocks, purslanes, docks, plantains, celandines, etc. Act quickly on relatively young plants: the weeding operation will be easier and more effective.

Directions for use Think about working in a crouched position if you are clearing a traditional flowerbed or a short grass meadow to protect your back. This weeder is used in relatively light soils to eliminate all unwanted herbs that have a long taproot. The two tines penetrate the soil just at the neck of the plant. It is possible to repeat the process all around the neck to contain the root. A rotating motion will often be enough to dislodge the root, completely or almost completely. Among the unwanted plants with taproots, whose root resembles a narrow carrot, we can mention thistle, dandelion, dandelion, dock, sorrel, plantain, and greater celandine... Act quickly on relatively young plants: the weeding process will be easier and more effective. After use, clean your tool promptly. Store it in a dry place, away from sunlight.
