A traditional dandelion weeder equipped with an ash handle, whose long narrow blade, ending in a sharp and sharpened fork, proves very effective for removing dandelions and other weeds. Its steel head is hand-forged, with a boron steel finish.

This traditional De Pypere dandelion weeder is a hand tool designed to extract and remove the long and deep taproots of dandelions and other weeds, which can be particularly difficult to eradicate. This tool is equipped with a short and sturdy ash handle that provides a comfortable grip, and it has a long, narrow, forked head that is sharpened to penetrate the soil effectively. Its blade is hand-forged from steel with a boron steel finish. Lightweight, manoeuvrable, and durable, this well-crafted tool will last for many years.

Head dimensions: 18.5 x 2cm (1in) - Handle length: 14cm (6in)

This classic dandelion weeder is one of the essential hand tools for successfully extracting taproots that are deeply anchored in the soil and difficult to remove without breaking. These are long, relatively narrow, and tapered roots that penetrate vertically and deeply into the soil, from which finer lateral roots grow. They are found, for example, in carrots, parsnips, and oak trees, but also in many 'weeds' such as dandelions, plantains, thistles, sowthistles, and docks. To destroy this type of plant, it is necessary to remove, at a minimum, the first 5-7 centimetres (2-3 inches) of the root along with the leaf rosette, sometimes the entire root. Generally, leaving a small portion of the root deep underground will still kill the plant. The sharp edges and two prongs of the long blade penetrate the soil at the base of the plant, where the leaf rosette emerges, while simultaneously twisting and pressing on the handle. The blade cuts through the rootlets, leaving only the task of pulling it out of the soil.

This root weeder is made of FSC-certified natural ash handle, a wood known for its hardness, with a socket where the forged head is securely fixed. The head is made of tempered steel that is resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion.

The traditional De Pypere range includes high-quality tools, all forged from steel and equipped with ash handles. The boron steel coating on the blade is very hard and resistant, making it a valuable material for tools that can be heavily used in the garden.

This tool is under warranty. The warranty does not apply to handles or grips, only to the metal parts, excluding consumables (screws, springs, etc.), and within the scope of normal use.

Directions for use The dandelion weeder is a very handy tool for removing taproots, which are deeply anchored in the soil and difficult to pull out without breaking them. They are found in many 'weeds' such as dandelions, plantains, thistles, sowthistles, comfrey, wild chervil, celandine, purslane and dock. To destroy this type of plant, it is necessary to remove at least the first 5-7 centimetres (2-3 inches) of the root along with the leaf rosette, or even to completely uproot it in certain cases. Work after rain or watering, as moistened loosened soil, will be easier to weed. It is also better to intervene on young plants, whose roots will be less developed and have not had time to reseed. The root puller is inserted into the soil at the level of the plant's collar (at the base of the leaves, at ground level), by turning and pressing the handle at the same time, as if using a knife. The blade descends all around the root and cuts the rootlets, and then all that remains is to pull it out of the soil.
