Collection of 9 organic strawberries - Fragaria ananassa

A Collection of nine Organic perennial Strawberry Plants, including the  Cijosée, Anaïs, and Mariguette varieties, renowned for their subtle flavours, allowing for extended harvests from the end of May until the first frosts. These strawberry plants are robust and fairly disease-resistant. Enjoy these strawberries fresh, in sauces, or in a pie. These are certified organically grown plants.

The collection consists of:

- 3 x Organic Cijosée Strawberry Plants: this variety produces medium-sized, conical fruits of good taste quality with a fine, juicy, and slightly acidic flesh. Particularly hardy, it is well-suited to the North and East of France as well as montane gardens. Cijosée strawberries grow above the foliage, making them easy to harvest; the plant easily produces runners, allowing for inexpensive expansion of strawberry beds.

- 3 x Organic Anaïs Strawberry Plants: this variety produces ovoid, bright red, fragrant, sweet, slightly acidic, and juicy medium size strawberries, reminiscent of wild strawberries. It is a variety that has the advantage of producing a regular yield over a long period.

- 3 x Organic Mariguette Strawberry Plants: this variety combines the qualities of its parents 'Mara des Bois' and 'Gariguette': an exceptional wild strawberry flavour, earliness, and a high yield of large, elongated fruits with an orange-red colour reminiscent of Gariguette strawberries.

Strawberry plants can be planted in spring or autumn in any well-prepared garden soil, enriched and free from excessive limestone. Strawberries can be consumed in multiple ways: eaten fresh, with sugar, cream, or sliced thinly and dried before being added to muesli or yogurt. If you have a plentiful harvest, consider making jams, sauces, pies, ice cream, or sorbets. Strawberries can also be frozen.

For harvesting, pick the fruits as they ripen, every 2 or 3 days, ideally in the morning. Strawberries are delicate, so pick them with their stalks by pinching the stem 1 to 2 cm (0 to 1in) above it. The texture of the fruit is a good indicator of its ripeness. It should be firm and soft to the touch. Strawberries are rich in vitamins and minerals. They can cause itching for some people as they stimulate the release of histamine in the body.
