Description

Robust, Chionochloa flavicans has evergreen foliage, very fine and flexible, forming a large clump of intense green.

The large feathery silvery-cream flowers panicles gracefully droop above and around the clump. It is truly impressive, especially when positioned in dry, rocky or sandy soil, in full sun.

Originally from montane volcanic regions, this grass needs a porous and rocky well-drained soil, limestone-free, in full sun. It dreads confinement and humidity. It is only truly hardy in these dry and warm conditions, but once you have found the right spot for it, it is truly sumptuous.
