Description

Pretty, little-known perennials with foliage of great decorative interest.

The thick stem forms a slender tuft of long-stalked leaves, up to 30 cm wide. The leaves are leathery, shiny, dark green and deeply lobed like a maple leaf. The white flowers, which are larger than those of the previous species, are borne in small bunches on upright stems. A remarkable plant that forms dense clumps over time.

Planting and care

In our garden, we use them mainly with Asian primroses in moist, lime-free clay soil, and with Epimedium in cool undergrowth in acid, humus-rich soil. They are beautiful, perfectly hardy and never get sick - in fact, their only fault is that they lose their foliage in winter.
