Description

Collection of 3 Astrantia major, 1 white Astrantia, 1 pink Astrantia, 1 red Astrantia.

- 1 Astrantia major 'Alba'

- 1 Astrantia major 'Rosensinfonie'

- 1 Astrantia major 'Rubra'

Perennials for cool and sunny flowerbeds, astrantias are easy to grow plants, offering magnificent cut flowers with exceptional vase life.

Planting and care

In fresh soil, plant your Astrantias in partial shade, avoiding excessive exposure to heat (midday sun). In humus-bearing soil, the astrance self-seeds and easily produces new seedlings capable of flowering within a few weeks, prolonging the flowering period for several months. To plant your pot, work the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, breaking up the soil well and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn to the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole, firming the soil, and water thoroughly to remove any air pockets. During dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to aid root development. During wet weather, keep slugs away, as they pose a threat to young plantings. How? Use wood ash, slug repellent, or even beer! Each of these solutions is highly effective.
