Planted on the same day, it seems to be thriving in the garden. I followed the advice on the website to pair it with other plants.

Description

New and unique, the Heucherella 'Berry Fizz' produces a magnificent evergreen foliage, black-purple, splashed with pink.

This heucherella, resulting from the cross-breeding between Heuchera and Tiarella, provides an airy and early flowering in April, the flowers are pink in buds and become pure white once they bloom. Perennial with remarkable evergreen foliage, the Heucherella 'Berry Fizz' produces glossy black-purple palmate leaves, sprinkled with pale pink. It combines the best of heucheras (the foliage) and tiarelles (the flower).

Compact, 'Berry Fizz' measures 30cm (12in) in height and width. It has good hardiness; easy to grow, it requires a rich and moist soil, it likes semi-shaded and bright places but fears direct sunlight.

Planting and care

Prepare a planting hole of 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in). If your soil is heavy, mix some compost with the crumbled soil, partially refill the hole and place your seedling (after removing the pot) so that the top of the plant's root ball is covered with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Adding a base fertiliser (dehydrated blood, horn powder) will nourish your plant during its rooting period without risk of burning. Firmly tamp the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, regular watering for a few weeks will help facilitate your plant's establishment. The woody stump tends to emerge from the soil, so mulch annually. Heucherellas renew their foliage in late winter, so we recommend cutting back the previous year's leaves in January, February.
