A classic 'made in France' knife. Invented by Joseph Opinel over 130 years ago, the N°07 has remained a symbol of the brand. The 8 cm (3in) stainless steel blade ensures excellent cutting and offers great resistance to corrosion. Its varnished beechwood handle guarantees a secure and comfortable grip. A safety ring allows the blade to be locked in the open and closed positions.

To use this Opinel knife, turn the collar to release the blade and unfold it, then put the collar back in place to keep the blade open. You can then carry out all your small gardening tasks such as pruning perennials and small bushes, preparing cuttings, and harvesting fruits and flowers. It is ideal for camping and picnics, but will also accompany you in your daily life.

Classified in 1985 by the Victoria and Albert Museum, as one of the top 100 designs, exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Opinel is one of the most famous French knives. It was created in 1890 by Joseph Opinel, when he was 18 years old, and its success has never waned since. As early as 1897, the range was complete with its 12 sizes.

The modified 12C27 stainless steel from Sandvik, developed for Opinel, is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The stainless steel capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, which allows for a very satisfactory sharpness without being susceptible to corrosion. Blade hardness is 57-58 HRC. The traditional Opinel blade is called a Yatagan blade. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish saber, with a raised tip. The blade is ground with an exclusive curved profile that guarantees the robustness of the blade and allows for efficient sharpening.

Beechwood is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French forests, it is hard, resistant, and easy to work with. With a homogeneous appearance, its light colour varies from yellow to pink. It is recognisable by the presence of many small dark lines. The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from N°06 onwards. Made from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safety during use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (for safety during transport).

Directions for use The n°7, the reference for the pocket knife. Small and handy, it will be very useful to you in the garden, during your outings in nature, as well as in your everyday life. The rotating ferrule secures the blade during use by locking it in place, preventing it from moving while in use and eliminating any risk when the blade is in your pocket. To use this Opinel knife, turn the collar to release the blade and unfold it, then put the collar back in place to keep the blade in the open position. You can then carry out all your small gardening tasks such as pruning perennials and small bushes, preparing cuttings, and harvesting fruits and flowers. It is ideal for camping and picnics, but will also accompany you in your daily life. Clean the blades with alcohol after use, this gesture prevents the transmission of diseases from one plant to another, and also helps to keep your tool in good condition for a long time (the sap from certain plants can attack the blades or make them sticky over time). Store this tool away from bad weather conditions, in a dry place.
