Description

The 'Disting'O Orange' Climbing Rose 'Wekausujucton' is a compact climber that offers clustered flowers of a distinctive fresh and sweet orange colour. Beautifully cone-shaped they bloom abundantly for the first time in June, accompanied by a light fragrance and a shade of orange sorbet, then return in successive waves until autumn. The beautiful dark green foliage remains attractive and healthy throughout the season.

The Disting'O® Orange rose is a horticultural hybrid belonging to the family of hybrid tea roses and Floribunda roses whose flowers are gathered in bouquets. It grows rapidly, developing long, erect, green, and more or less covered with sharp, reddish prickle stems, flexible enough to be trained. This rose reaches an average height of 1.75 to 2 m (6 to 7ft) with an equivalent spread. Its long stems are covered with glossy and tough foliage, divided into large, dentate leaflets, dark green, resistant to rose diseases under good growing conditions. Its flowers, solitary or grouped in 2 or 3, measure 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4in) in diameter. They are double and turbinated in shape, typical of hybrid tea roses. Flowering begins in June and continues until October. Their shade is a tender orange, vaguely nuanced with yellow. The foliage of the climbing rose is deciduous, absent in winter.

The 'Disting'O Orange' rose offers a delightful, tender, fresh colour, pleasing to the eye. Plant it in full sun; it requires little maintenance and adds a lot of appeal to facades. Its compact size allows it to be considered in all situations, in containers and in open ground, to embellish a fence, a small tree, an arch, or a terrace. Pair its gentle colour with perennials or climbing plants with blue flowers, such as a perennial geranium 'Rozanne', sages, or a clematis like the Clematis heracleifolia 'Côte d'Azur'. You can also create beautiful warm colour combinations with daylilies or yarrow.

Planting and care

The 'Disting'O Orange' Rose prefers sunny locations but is wary of hot and confined exposures that can make it more susceptible to powdery mildew: avoid training it against a south or west-facing wall. While not a fan of excessive limestone, it tolerates it. It prefers deep, fertile, cool soils that allow it to express itself fully.

It will adapt to any garden if the soil is well-worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it well and placing an amendment, such as blood, fish and bone, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root establishment and the first two dry and hot summers. Pruning this rose is only necessary to limit its growth. If its spread bothers you, reduce its branches.
