Thanks to the individuals (Ludivine for order preparation & quality control and Noëlla from the shipping department), the bare-root rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted along the edge of a rockery near many pink roses, I am now waiting for it to take root in the spring... (or not?). Note: received with the variety label (essential for identifying the rose bush in all seasons)." More information

The large flowers of this old-style rose are very fragrant, and their pretty pink colour changes with the temperature and light, from dark pink to slate reflections. They bloom in clusters of 3 to 5 units, which are renewed from June to October. The bush has a beautiful glossy dark green foliage, naturally resistant to diseases. An excellent cut flower, this variety also has a great impact in a romantic setting.

Description

The 'Agnès B' Rose will appeal to lovers of romantic roses, with their somewhat nostalgic charm, very feminine, and their fresh fragrance with citrus notes. Their colour evolves over time, temperature, and light, in a beautiful range of pink, lilac, and cream. They bloom in small clusters of 3 to 5 units that succeed each other from June until the first frost on beautiful glossy foliage, which is not very susceptible to diseases. These roses are simply sublime in bouquets.

The 'Agnès B' Rose, created by Christophe Travers of La Saulée nurseries, is related to both modern hybrid tea roses, also known as hybrid teas, and floribunda roses, with clustered flowers. It is a repeat-flowering rose that blooms from June to October, in successive waves. The plant forms a small bushy shrub with a slightly upright habit, vigorous and fast-growing. It will reach approximately 70 cm (28in) in height and 50 cm (20in) in width. The flowers are mostly pale pink, with a cream centre. Depending on the temperature and exposure, the petals can vein with a fairly deep mauve pink, even reaching slate blue. Their fragrance is pronounced, dominated by lemony notes. The foliage is disease-resistant and perfectly highlights the color of the roses. A very hardy variety.

This 'Agnès B' Rose, with its fragrance and the somewhat old-fashioned charm of its flowers, and its beautiful floribundity, will find its place in the garden in a large rose bed or as a standout in a well-maintained garden. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, tolerating both rain and heat, which allows it to be welcomed without reservation from the north to the south of our regions, even at altitude. It pairs perfectly with white, purple, or mauve roses, as well as with pretty and easy-to-grow plants like perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', 'Anne Folkard', 'Nimbus', 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, love-in-a-mist, foxgloves etc. Its flowers can be used to create charming bouquets that delicately perfume the house.

Planting and care

To install your 'Agnès B' rose bush, prepare your soil to a depth of 40 cm (16in) by crumbling the soil and placing a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in the hole, and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.
