Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received appears to be healthy. Planted near the variety "The Fairy," I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

Description

The 'La Sauvagine Terre et Passion' Rose Bush, created by Georges Delbard rose gardens, has recently been blooming in the domain of the same name, nestled in the heart of the Audomarois marsh in the Lille region, classified as an exceptional natural site by UNESCO. It is an easy-going and generous bush that blooms continuously throughout the warm season. On its beautiful dark green foliage, very healthy, bouquets of very pretty double roses with a gentle fragrance are born. They capture in their serrated petals a pink shade and a rose scent with notes of fennel. It is an excellent variety for the garden, definitely worth discovering!

The 'La Sauvagine Terre et Passion' Cluster-flowered Rose Bush is a creation of the Delbard house launched in 2021. The plant forms in a few years a well-branched bush with thorny stems, 80-90 cm (32-35in) in height and 60 cm (24in) in width, covered with abundant foliage, divided into dark green leaflets, almost matte, resistant to diseases. This deciduous foliage falls in autumn. The flowering is regularly renewed from May-June until October-November, provided that the plant does not lack water during the hottest months. The wide corollas of 7-8 cm (3in) are very double, gathered in bouquets of 5 to 7 flowers with serrated outer petals. The tightly closed buds open into rather globular flowers that reveal a bouquet of yellow stamens very late. The centre of the flowers is coloured with flesh pink, while the petals located on the periphery are almost pure white. Their fragrance is moderately pronounced.

Floribunda roses allow for the creation of beautiful small hedges, planted mixed along the edge of the terrace or in small shrub beds. Combine them with abelias, nandinas, or caryopteris, for example. They are good companions for paniculate phlox and tall baby's breath. The moderate size and resistance of 'La Sauvagine Terre et Passion' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones. Its use is versatile, according to each gardener's desires: in a rose bed, in the company of pink varieties ('The Fairy'), purples or mauves ('Blue Boy', 'Rhapsody in Blue'), or mixed with easy-to-grow perennials like perennial geraniums, catmints, or asters. And its scented roses are charming in bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant the floribunda rose 'La Sauvagine Terre et Passion' from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
