All our linaria seeds. Linaria, or toadflax, are annual or perennial plants appreciated for their delicate and colourful flowers, similar to small snapdragons. Among the most well-known, the 'Licilia Peach' variety offers flowers blending tones of peach yellow, orange, and brick red, while 'Licilia Azure' displays various shades of blue. Linaria maroccana, the Moroccan toadflax, with its slender stems bearing small flowers ranging from pink to violet, sometimes with touches of yellow, is sought after for its abundant flowering throughout summer. Linaria purpurea, the purple toadflax, offers a light and airy flowering of small purple flowers, ideal for adding height to borders. Discover Linaria anticaria 'Antique Silver' which forms carpets of pale lilac flowers on a mist of grey-blue leaves. Less known but equally interesting, Linaria vulgaris, the common toadflax, is a perennial recognised by its bright yellow flowers with an orange heart, reminiscent of snapdragons.
Linarias appreciate sunny exposures and light, well-drained soils. They can self-seed naturally from year to year, especially in rather dry and poor soil. For annuals like Linaria maroccana, sow the seeds directly in place in spring for summer flowering. Perennials like Linaria vulgaris are planted in autumn or spring and easily propagate through spontaneous seeding or clump division.
These plants are drought-resistant, but regular watering will promote continuous flowering. Linarias are also very attractive to pollinators, especially bees and butterflies, who appreciate their tubular flowers.
