The Dahlias fimbriata are mainly Cactus or Semi-cactus Dahlias, characterised by flowers with slender, rolled, and straight petals that have cut and notched tips, and include cultivatars of the Decorative group like the "Fubuki" varieties. The flowers are large, particularly attractive in bouquets, like the 'Clair Obscur' Dahlia, with big violet flowers tipped with white, or the 'Mika' variety, yellow and orange, or the 'Jaxon' Dahlia, a flamboyant red. These tall varieties will bring light to the back of a border if their flowers are pure white like those of the 'Avalanche' Dahlia, paired with ornamental grasses such as Miscanthus or Panicum.
