Cucumber, like gherkins - Cucumis sativus - is a fruit vegetable consumed in summer for its refreshing character. Its cultivation is easy but requires sunlight, heat, and abundant watering. The seeds are sown in warmth in March-April, and it is planted in the vegetable garden after mid-May. 'Marketmore', 'Armenian', 'Long English', 'Tanja'… all these varieties are available in organic, as seed or young plants from organic farming, obtained without pesticidal or chemical fertilizers.
