Description

The late single Tulip 'Angel's Wish' is a tall variety with large, well-formed flowers on sturdy stems. The elegant and fragrant flower is a soft white, with a shiny yellow-green triangle running along the central vein. The inside of the corolla is white. This reliable, floriferous tulip has received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Its refined flower brightens and soothes beds of more brightly coloured flowers.

The 'Angels Wish' Tulip is of horticultural origin. It is currently classified in Division 5, which is characterised by late-season flowering. Among the tallest, it will reach a height of 60 cm when in bloom. Perched on sturdy stems, well above the broadly lanceolate leaves, its large flowers stand out for their size and brilliance. Ivory white flamed with yellow-green at first, the petals then become whiter as they mature. Flowering generally takes place in May-June, making it useful in the garden to transition between early and early summer blooms.

Late single Tulip blooms at a time when the garden is already in full swing. 'Angel's Wish' finds a place in large beds with well-drained soil, alongside plants with foliage (grasses, fennel, lady's mantle) late tulips of all colours, pink (Angélique), black (Queen of the Night), yellow, orange (Sunrise), red, variegated (Carnival of Nice) or purple (Shirley), and perennials like peonies or pastel-toned wallflowers. They also help maximize the flowering duration of beds. It can be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds and even in pots and containers, consider it for your balconies and terraces. Ideal for elegant cut flowers, only add a small amount of water to their vase, a little at the bottom is enough. Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase each day.

Planting and care

Plant Tulip Angels Wish bulbs in the autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm, spacing them 10 cm apart in ordinary, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining soil. Never add uncomposted manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. The tulip will thrive in deep soil, moist to dry in summer. Place it in a sunny or partially shaded location. Once flowering is complete, it is a good idea to remove the seed heads to avoid exhausting the bulb.
