Description

The Triumph Tulip 'White Liberstar' is original, light, and very refined. Its large corolla, of an absolutely pure white, shows petals curiously rolled up at the edge, almost tubular, which give it the look of an alabaster crown.  It blooms in the middle of the tulip season, in April-May, just after the early tulips. It would be beautiful in a wedding bouquet, or in a white garden, paired with small white muscari.  Also perfect with the 'Fontainebleau' tulip, purple bordered with white.

The 'White Liberstar' Tulip belongs to the Lily family. Of horticultural origin, introduced in 2010 in the Netherlands, it is the result of cross-breeding between early single tulips and late single tulips. It is currently classified in the 'Triumph' group, even in the 'late singles' group, whose main characteristic is to have flowers with a narrow cup. The stem of this tulip is of medium size, very sturdy. Its flower, very large,  offers a real noveltythe tubular shape of its petalsIt will reach a height of 40 cm (16in) when in flower. Perched on strong stems, well above the broadly lanceolate leaves, the elegant flowers, of an immaculate white, bloom  in the middle of the tulip season.

The 'White Liberstar' triumph tulip finds its place in large flowerbeds, but especially in bouquets. Its perfectly neutral colour allows for bold combinations with tulips of all colours. This also extends the duration of flowering in flowerbeds. Combine it with daffodils, jonquils, hyacinths, or even Corsican hellebores and euphorbias, and you will create surprising scenes. It can also be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds, as well as in pots and planters. This tulip beautifully enhances balconies and terraces. It pairs perfectly with tall perennials, and is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. In a vase, use very little water. Moreover, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day.

Planting and care

Place the 'White Liberstar' tulips in a sunny or partially shaded area from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in a light and well-drained soil, loosened to a depth of 15 cm (6in). Space the bulbs 10 cm (4in) apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The care required is very easy. Just water regularly, especially during dry winters, and cut the flower stalks after flowering. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
