The colour is more yellow than in the photos. But apart from that, the tulips are magnificent!

Description

The Fringed Tulip 'Fabio' offers simple, slightly open cup-shaped flowers dressed in a rich coppery orange-red, edged with bright yellow. Its beautiful delicately fringed flower will enliven flower beds, borders or bouquets with a real panache. It blooms in April-May, in the heart of the tulip season.

The Dentate Tulip 'Fabio' belongs to the lily family. Of horticultural origin, it is classified in the 'Crispa' group, whose main characteristic is the finely toothed petals. This tulip will reach a height of 45 cm (18in) when in bloom. The flowering takes place in April-May, a little later than other tulips. The flowers are simple, slightly open cup-shaped, in a rich and warm harmony of dark coppery orange with red highlights. The fringed edges of this magnificent tulip are enhanced with a very bright, almost orange yellow. The flowers last a long time and allow the tulip season to be extended until May.

In the world of flowers, there is truly nothing comparable to frilled tulips to spice up your garden in spring with something unique. Ideal for borders, the 'Fabio' Tulip will also create beautiful spots in perennial flower beds, alongside biennial plants that will fill the space after earlier flowering. You can choose wallflowers for this purpose. By choosing frilled tulips, you will bring a unique touch to your bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm (6in), spacing them 10 cm (4in) apart. The planting should be done in ordinary soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-drained. Never add undecomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. The 'Fabio' tulip will grow well in moist to dry soil. Plant it in a sunny or partially shaded location. After flowering, it is advisable to remove the fruits to avoid exhausting the plant. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them. We recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarellas, and Euphorbias in the foreground of your flower beds, as their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and, during the season, elegantly conceal their yellowed leaves. Red and orange are uncommon in the garden, so let's take advantage of the wide range of tulips available in these colours. For an elegant effect, these tulips will be enhanced by dark green foliage, such as a hedge of yews or boxwoods. Also consider dark foliage plants like 'Obsidian' heuchera.
