The received bulbs appear healthy to me, planted at the edge of the rockery. Now I patiently await their growth... or not?

Description

The Frilled Double Tulip 'Exotic Sun', also known as the Dentate Tulip, has sunny, bright, double flowers in April-May. Its beautiful delicately fringed flower will charm you with its very bright lemon-yellow colour and tousled corollas. In borders, along edges or in bouquets, it will beautifully announce spring.

The frilled Double Tulip 'Exotic Sun' belongs to the liliaceae family. Of horticultural origin, it is classified in the 'Crispa' group, whose main characteristic is to have finely toothed petal tips. This tulip will reach 40 cm (16in) high when in bloom in April-May, a little later than other tulips. The flowers are double, with bright, clear and pure yellow open cup. The fringed edges of this magnificent tulip are slightly lighter. The flowers last a long time, allowing the tulip season to be extended until May.

In the world of flowers, there is truly nothing to compare with frilled tulips to spice up your spring garden with something unique. Ideal along edges, the Double Tulip 'Exotic Sun' will also create beautiful highlights in perennial flower beds, with biennial plants like forget-me nots or wallflowers that will fill the space after flowering. Frilled tulips will bring a unique touch to your bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm (6in), 10 cm (4in) apart in ordinary, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining soil. Never add undecomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. The 'Exotic Sun' double tulip will grow well in moderately dry soil. Plant it in a sunny or partially shaded location. Once flowering is finished, it is best to remove the seed heads to avoid exhausting the plant. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them. We recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarellas, Brunneras, Bleeding Hearts, Cyparissus Spurge, in the foreground of your flower beds, their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and elegantly hide their yellowed leaves.
