Description

Viridiflora tulip Florosa blooms in late spring. Shaped like a lily, its long and slender flowers open in star-shaped form in April-May. The petals are cream-coloured with pink edges and veined with green-yellow.

Viridiflora tulips are known for their excellent durability, with flowers that can last up to three weeks. The flowers are perched on 60 cm (24in) tall, weather-resistant sturdy stems. The green foliage is deciduous. You can cut them to create beautiful bouquets.

This variety of tulip can be paired with both biennials and perennials. You can associate it with daisies or pink pansies. It is a charming addition to your flowerbeds.

Planting and care

Plant your Florosa tulips as soon as possible in well-drained, deeply-loosened soil, 15 cm (6in) deep (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height in soil) and a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch. Choose a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stalks but let the leaves dry completely before cutting them. After flowering, their foliage becomes unsightly and we recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarellas, Brunneras, Bleeding Hearts or Cypress Spurge at the front of your flowerbeds. Their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and elegantly hide their yellowed leaves.
