I received my order and planted the bulbs the next day. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but the bulbs, except for one, showed no signs of growth. They were very dry, one had its top broken, and others were in several pieces with some "roots" cut from the trunk. We'll see what comes out. Okay for the Gladiolus small, less fragile bulbs. Maybe it will work out, but I have doubts.

More information

A collection of 3 decorative Dahlias with camellia-like flowers combining white, dark pink, and fuchsia pink colours. In these varieties, the flowers in heads are of medium size, slightly flattened, double, regular, and have the grace of water lily flowers. The flowering period lasts for about 4 months, from July to October. Combining vibrant colours and refined shapes, these Dahlias work wonders in homemade bouquets, with delicate flowers like statice or baby's breath, for example.

Description

This 3 Dahlias collection for bouquets brings together three varieties of decorative dahlias with camellia-like flowers, in white, iridescent fuchsia pink, and dark purple pink. Medium-sized flowers with perfect curves and precious colours that will form a perfect chromatic alliance in the garden as well as in a vase. The plants bloom abundantly for 4 months, from July until the first cold weather. The flowers are very long-lasting and their strong long stems are ideal for cutting.

This collection consists of:

-1x Dahlia 'Berner Oberland': double head flowers measuring 14 cm (6in), in a dark, rich, and intense pink. Height 1 m (3ft)

-1x Dahlia 'Peace Pact': perfect waterlily flowers, measuring between 12 and 15 cm (5 and 6in) in diameter. A beautiful pure white colour, iridescent in full light, with a light yellow infused centre. Its stems measure 1.10 m (4ft) to 1.20 m (4ft) in height.

-1x Dahlia 'Karma Lagoon': a variety specially developed for cut flowers. Its perfectly shaped flowers measure approximately 8 cm (3in) in diameter. Delicate and vibrant, the fuchsia pink petals have some violet nuances. The plant shows exceptionally strong 1 m (3ft) tall stems that eliminate the need for staking.

To promote flower reblooming, make sure to remove faded flowers, or even better, regularly make large colourful bouquets by combining them with other varieties. The dahlias that make up this collection form a magnificent trio of perfectly matched colours. They go well with white, pink, violet, or purple flowers. In flower beds, they will create colourful spots in the company of Asters, for example, which bloom at the same time. Grasses are also at their peak beauty at the end of summer, just like Echinaceas. Dahlias also allow bouquets to be embellished until late in the season.

As a star plant in borders and herb gardens, Dahlias confidently accompany the most beautiful flowers, but are also appreciated alongside vegetable plants. In Mexico, this vine-plant was first cultivated as a root vegetable for consumption. But its poor taste qualities relegated it to the status of an ornamental plant. Since then, the interest in their beautiful exuberance has never waned.

Planting and care

Plant your dahlias in the springtime in deeply tilled and enriched soil, for example with bonemeal. Place your tubercle and crumble the soil well to fill without air pockets. Your dahlia should be covered with 6 cm (2in) of soil. At the end of planting, pour one litre of water. Water regularly during the first 6 weeks to help with rooting. Dahlias are sensitive to cold, so they need to be overwintered. In November, the first frost will blacken the foliage, which is the time to dig them up. Carefully remove the tubercles. Remove as much soil as possible. Let the foliage dry so that the tubercle can replenish its reserves. When the foliage is dry, cut the stems 10 cm (4in) from the tubercle. Spread your bulbs in a crate on a newspaper. Store away from frost in a dry, cool, and dark place.
