Planting and care

Sow in good compost. For greenhouse or cold frame cultivation, sow the seeds under glass from February to April at a temperature of 18 to 21°C (64.4 to 69.8°F). Cover with a thin layer of fine compost. The young plant germinates after 2 to 3 weeks. Transplant the young plants into 7cm (3in) pots, then into the garden once the last frosts are over in May or June, with plants spaced at least 60cm (24in) apart. Plant in a very sunny position. Stake firmly. Regularly feed with a good fertiliser. Tomatoes like warm and sunny weather. Water regularly during dry periods. Harvest from August to October.
