Description

This Hardy and Traditional Meadow Mix brings together 4 species of annual flowers that will create a large meadow dominated by the abundant and radiant flowering of cosmos. Sown in March-April in the sun, it will be in bloom from May to September, animated by the constant flight of pollinating insects. This meadow is undemanding and requires no maintenance. It will delight the gardener while promoting biodiversity.

The annual plants in this mix can thrive in ordinary garden soil. Particularly suitable for large spaces, it significantly reduces the need for mowing. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, it provides a quality food source for pollinators. A packet of seeds can create a flowering meadow of 500 to 1000 square metres. The height of the plants exceeds 60 cm (24in).

At the end of the flowering period, mow and remove the plants to prepare the ground for reseeding the following year.

Composition:  Cosmos bipinnatus, Cosmos sulphureus, Zinnia dahlia, Centaurea cyanus

It has become very popular to plant flower meadows. Very easy to grow, it will bloom throughout the entire summer and help restore ecological balance while requiring very little maintenance. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes in a slightly neglected area, near the orchard, on a large slope, or at the back of a garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing: from March to early June (> flowering from May to September)

Turn the soil. Depending on the area, you can use a tiller or agricultural equipment. • Refine, rake, level, remove stones and weeds. • Mix the contents of the sachet with an equal volume of dry sand for better seed distribution. • Sow by broadcasting on the surface, like sowing a lawn. • Roll or compact the soil to bring the seeds into contact with the ground. • Water and keep moist until germination.

Sow approximately 0.5 g per square metre.

Examples:

• 500 m2: weigh out 250 grams
• 1000 m2: use the entire box

At the end of flowering, mow and remove the plants to turn over the soil. Sow again the following year.
