Description

This Low-growing Meadow Mix brings together 6 species of low-growing annual flowers that will create a beautiful meadow from May to September, buzzing with pollinating insects. Sown early in spring, broadcast as if for a lawn, in well-prepared soil, this meadow requires no maintenance and will delight the gardener while preserving biodiversity.

The annual plants in this mix thrive in ordinary garden soil, even if it is quite dry in summer. They flower 6 to 8 weeks after sowing and some naturalise by self-seeding in light soil. A flowering meadow significantly reduces the need for mowing. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, it provides a quality food source for pollinators and a refuge for other beneficial insects. A seed box allows you to create a flower meadow of 100 to 300 square metres. The plants do not exceed 50 cm (20in) in height.

At the end of flowering, mow and remove the plants to prepare the soil for the next year.

Sample composition: Iberis, Dwarf Centaurea, Calendula, Eschscholzia, etc.

It has become very popular to plant a flower meadow. They combine usefulness with pleasure, flowering throughout the summer and requiring very little maintenance. Watering if the weather is really dry and cutting to 10-20 cm (4-8in) above the ground in autumn is all that's needed. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixtures near the vegetable garden, on an embankment bordering a sunken path, near your fruit trees, or at the back of a garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing: from March to early June (> flowering from May to September)

Turn over the soil. Depending on the area, you can use a rotavator or agricultural equipment. • Refine, rake, level, remove stones and weeds. • Mix the contents of the packet with an equal volume of dry sand to achieve a better distribution of the seeds. • Sow by broadcasting on the surface, similar to sowing a lawn. • Roll or compact the soil to bring the seeds into contact with the ground. • Water and keep moist until germination.

Sow approximately 1.7g per m²

Examples:

• 100 m2: weigh out 170 grams
• 300 m2: use the entire box

At the end of flowering, mow and remove the plants to prepare the soil. Sow again the following year.
