Description

This Wildflower Meadow Flower Mix is a blend of native plants that are found naturally in the countryside. Robust and undemanding, rustic and colourful, they grow without care and provide shelter and food for many beneficial insects, thus contributing to the preservation of biodiversity. The seeds will be sown directly in place, preferably in late summer or early autumn, in a well-prepared soil. The flower bed will bloom for several years, from spring to summer.

This selection consists of 23 species of perennial and annual plants. Annuals bloom 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, while perennial plants, which live for several years, will bloom from the second spring onwards. All these plants show rather rapid growth, and some self-sow spontaneously in the garden, in ordinary and well-draining soil. One box of seeds can cover approximately 3 square metres (32 square feet). The height of flowering plants varies from 40 to 70 cm (15.7 to 27.6 in).

Partial composition: Achillea millefolium, Malva moschata, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Centaurea jacea, etc.

The wildflower meadow combines usefulness and pleasure: blooming throughout the summer season while requiring very little maintenance, it restores ecological balance and brings the charm of the countryside to the garden. Occasional watering during very dry periods will be sufficient to obtain many flowers. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixes near the house, along a path, in a slightly neglected area of the garden, on the slope bordering a sunken path, or at the back of the garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in place, preferably in September-October or in March-April, in a well-prepared soil that is free from weeds, refined and raked. Sow finely on the surface of the soil, then lightly rake to cover the seeds. Optionally, roll the soil to ensure good seed adhesion. Germination usually takes 14 to 30 days. Regularly water with a fine rain to keep the soil slightly moist until germination.

Cultivation:

When the young plants appear, water well and remove weeds. Water regularly. Once established, plants generally rely on rainwater. Only water during very dry and hot periods in summer. In autumn, at the end of flowering, seeds can be collected and sown elsewhere. Water well to ensure seed adhesion to the soil.
