Chrysanthemum x koreanum Fanfare Improved F1 is a very hardy perennial plant that is grown for its exceptionally beautiful autumn flowers. The perfectly mastered selection by plant breeders has given rise to the famous little pompons of the chrysanthemums of All Saints' Day.
The flower known as the capitula takes on the form of a daisy entirely made up of petals making it look like a pompon.
The many shades presented by its flowers and its lengthy autumn flowering make this Chrysanthemum a very attractive plant. It is mainly found under the name Chrysanthemum x koreanum, reminding us that many of its modern hybrids come from China, Korea and Japan, where this flower is grown with great passion.
It is a bushy plant that resists the cold and that will colour your beds in autumn, year after year.
Measuring 60 cm in height, it fits perfectly into a bed of perennials, completing the garden's palette of colours. Sown in pots, it is a long-lasting solution for decorating the terrace and the balcony. It has an excellent vase life and can be used for the creation of magnificent wildflower bouquets from June to September.
Easy to grow, it adapts well to all soils but still prefers a very sunny position.

Botanical data
Sow the Chrysanthemum from February to July, in a seed tray. Use good quality compost. Broadcast sow your seeds. Cover the seeds with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite, tamp lightly and water generously with a fine spray nozzle. Place your tray in a bright position without direct sunlight, at a temperature of 15 °C to 20 °C. Reduce the temperature a little at night.
Their growth is fast. As soon as the plants have grown to a height of 5 cm, prick them out into small pots. 15 days before planting them in their final positions, start to gradually acclimatize them to outside temperatures.
At the end of May, temperatures in the garden should be warm enough to install your young plants. Choose a spot with plenty of sunshine. Space your plants 30 to 40 cm apart.
For bushier plants, pinch back the growing point 2 to 4 times as they grow. The flower buds will gradually appear as the days get shorter.
Remove the wilted flowers to encourage the quality of the blooms.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
