Consolida regalis QIS Rose - seeds

Consolida regalis QIS Rose' is an annual larkspur from a series of cultivars selected for their generous flowering and beautiful stature, their strong stems, and the quality of their double flowers. It forms a large plant in the year of sowing, producing spikes of subtle and soft old rose flowers. This Larkspur is easy to grow, even in limestone soil, and can be directly sown in open ground, in the sun, in rich and moist soil.

Consolida regalis QIS Rose' is one of the many hybrids obtained by cross-breeding the Consolida Larkspur, in Latin Delphinium consolida. The latter is an annual plant with preferential winter germination that grows in cereal crops, on clay-limestone and rather dry soil, unlike most larkspurs. The variety 'QIS Rose' is a hardy annual plant with fast growth, forming a bushy clump of 35 to 40 cm. Its palmate foliage is deeply cut, tender green. Its 1m tall flower stalks appear from June to September and are loved by pollinating insects. The flowers, with a spur, are double, slightly ruffled cups, gathered on large, upright and dense spikes. Flowering is followed by the formation of numerous seeds that will easily germinate in the garden. The plant develops from a woody rhizome that sinks vertically into the ground.

Larkspurs do not mind harsh winters and thrive in full sun. 'QIS Rose' allows you to quickly create an elegant setting by directly sowing it in open ground, in flower beds or borders. It provides a profusion of large spikes, offers little resistance to the wind, and can lean on neighbouring plants. Its structure makes it a lightweight delphinium, ideal with shrubs like roses or tree peonies. Also consider grasses, and other vertical plants like foxgloves or lupins. It is well suited for making bouquets, as its flowers are particularly long-lasting in a vase, and can even be dried. To do this, cut fully open flowers into small bunches, hang the stems upside down, and store them in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from sunlight.
