Salvia horminum White Swan - seeds

Salvia horminum 'White Swan' will bring light and height to your borders with its flowers adorned with white bracts veined with green. This annual plant will also thrive in the vegetable garden, where it attracts pollinating insects, or in a container on a terrace. It is also an excellent cut flower, fresh or dried. From the Lamiaceae family, Salvia viridis or Salvia horminum is an annual sage, also known as green sage. It grows wild in dry and arid areas of the Mediterranean region and has given rise to many cultivars selected for their brightly coloured bracts. The 'White Swan' selection forms a bushy clump that reaches 50 cm in height when in flower, with a width of 30 cm. Its upright stems bear discreet and nectar-rich flowers adorned with decorative bracts. The flowers arranged in clusters along the stems quickly fall, but the large sterile white bracts veined with green remain in place all summer and until the first frost.

The floral stems of Salvia hormin are perfect for floral art. Once cut, they last 7 to 10 days in a vase. For dried bouquets, cut the stems once the bracts are well coloured and hang them to dry. The bracts retain their colour well.

With its upright habit and white flowers, the 'White Swan' sage brings height and light to your borders. In the vegetable garden, its flowers attract pollinating insects and butterflies. It is perfect for quickly flowering the garden or terrace throughout the summer and self-seeds naturally.
