Heuchera hybrida Melting Fire
2017 Planting, semi-shade, moist soil, in short everything is fine; since then I put it everywhere and even in more challenging places with drier soil, compacted, full of roots, it is perfect.

Heuchera 'Melting Fire', or Melting Fire Coral Bells, is a sturdy perennial that forms lush clumps over time. It displays sumptuous, ever-changing, semi-evergreen to evergreen foliage. In spring, it emerges in blood-red shades, then quickly turns a purplish-violet that infuses from the centre of the leaves. In autumn, the red transforms into deep purple. Its slender stems bear numerous spikes of tiny coral-pink flowers from July to September. This heuchera is not demanding and tolerates heat and sun, but thrives in humus-rich and moist soils.
Â
'Melting Fire' belongs to the Saxifragaceae family. It is a hybrid of Heuchera villosa, native to the mountains of the eastern United States. It will reach 40cm (16in) in all directions. It forms a large spreading clump, expanding over time. The foliage is the plant's major asset: a mix of blood-red and wine, evolving with the seasons and temperatures. As summer reaches its peak, the red colour fades and the foliage becomes greener. It turns purplish-violet in autumn and remains dark red in winter. The leaves are rounded and strongly veined. The light and airy flowering begins in June and continues until August. The pink bell-shaped flowers are arranged along an upright stem. This plant has a shallow root system.
Â
'Melting Fire' can be planted in the ground in a flower bed, in a shaded and cool rockery, or in a pot. When planted together in a flower bed, it brings dynamism to the garden. Pair it with hostas, grasses, and ferns for a wild effect. It also makes a good companion for shrubs and roses when planted in woodland areas. In a rockery, place a contrasting mulch at its base to highlight its beautiful foliage. Finally, it makes an ideal ground cover with remarkable colours. Pair it with blue flowers, the only shade it truly lacks, and it will be a perfect complement. Heuchera are ideal plants for filling your pots, containers, and flower boxes. They also make lovely cut flowers, as their delicate bell-shaped blooms bring a sense of lightness to bouquets.
With their trembling stems and tiny bells, heuchera were very fashionable in the 19th century in all European gardens. They were named Painter's Despair by the Impressionist painters, who were likely unsuccessful in trying to depict them.

Sowing:
Sow heuchera seeds from March to June on the surface of a special seed compost and cover them with a pinch of compost or vermiculite. Place the seed tray in a mini-greenhouse at a temperature of 18 to 21°C (64.4 to 69.8°F) or enclose it in a transparent polyethylene bag. Keep the compost moist but not waterlogged. Do not exclude light as it promotes germination, which will take between 21 and 60 days.
When the young plants are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them in cooler conditions until they are big enough to be planted outside. When the young plants have grown and the risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 7 to 10 days. Plant them in the ground or in pots outside, in well-worked and prepared soil, with a spacing of 40cm (16in). Choose a location where the soil remains moist, fertile, and well-drained, in full sun or partial shade.
Â
Cultivation:
Easy to maintain, 'Melting Fire' thrives in all well-drained, moist soil, in partial shade. It must be kept out of direct sunlight. Its parentage gives it good resistance to heat and cold. Plant it in loose soil that retains moisture, possibly with mulch. It likes well-drained soil and rocks in and above the soil. However, it does not tolerate very hot conditions. Sandy and poor soils should be avoided. Avoid planting it near vigorous perennials.
Heucheras have a rather shallow root system and should be planted slightly lower than the crown (the point where the foliage originates). After a few years of growth or when dividing them, replant them slightly deeper, taking care to remove the lignified parts.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
