Out of the 10 mini seedlings received, none of them survived. They were in a very poor condition upon arrival, already dried out, and despite my efforts to revive them, they continued to wither and eventually died. Seedlings in such a state should not be sold, it was evident that they wouldn't be able to survive.

Description

This Nemesia Sunsatia Plus Berry Delight, poetically nicknamed Elf Mirror, is a remarkable annual plant, capable of flowering from late winter right though to autumn. Clusters of large undulate bicoloured corollas, pink and cherry red, bloom en masse, covering its dense and rounded foliage like a cloud of butterflies, for a truly astonishing effect in hanging baskets and planters. This well-branched plant shows good resistance to adverse weather conditions and can tolerate light frosts. It should be placed in a gently sunny position, in fertile and well-drained soil.

Nemesia strumosa, also known as African Nemesia, is an annual plant from the Scrophulariaceae family, native to South Africa, with rapid growth. It has given rise to numerous horticultural varieties, the performance of which is constantly being improved in terms of floriferousness and durability. The Sunsatia Plus series is one of these successful creations, offering continuous flowering from May to October on highly branched plants.

The 'Berry Delight' variety displays large symmetrical flowers with undulated petals, half of which are light and vibrant pink, while the other half sports a brilliant cherry red. They are enhanced by a tiny yellow heart. Gathered at the end of sturdy, leafy stems, they adorn a graceful tuft of 25 cm (10in) in height and 30 cm (12in) in diameter, with a compact habit. The foliage consists of small, lanceolate, deeply toothed leaves, of medium green. This well-branched plant is resistant to wind and rain. It is hardy down to about -3°C (26.6°F).

From the first days of spring, the vibrant colours of nemesias illuminate the flowerbeds of cities and villages. On terraces and in gardens these fresh plants, with their graceful, bushy and trailing habit, perfectly adorn hanging baskets, balcony planters, all types of containers, and even perennial borders, preferably in full sun. They are easy to cultivate in the garden and provide spectacular results when planted in containers. Use them also to fill borders, in a mix of colours, or in combination with geraniums, lobelias, verbenas, petunias, etc.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in sheltered areas (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

Plant your Sunsatia nemesias in a sunny location or possibly in partial shade. They require a light, fertile, and humus-rich soil and appreciate a fertiliser input. They do not tolerate high temperatures combined with significant humidity very well. You can plant your nemesias in a flowerbed or in pots. When in pots, these plants need to be regularly watered. Planting should be done at the end of frost in spring. In summer, during periods of high heat, do not hesitate to prune the plant severely (to 10-15 cm (4-6in) from the base) between two flowerings to encourage the formation of new flowering shoots.
