Description

The Angelonia angustifolia Angelface Carrara White is an annual plant that is heat resistant and drought tolerant. It is characterized by an upright habit, offering a flowering in large densely flowered clusters, pure white, contrasting with fragrant shiny green foliage. This new variety has vigorous growth and produces very large flowers from May to October. It is perfect for borders, containers, and hanging baskets. This undemanding plant blooms in the sun and requires minimal maintenance.

The Angelonia angustifolia is a plant from the scrophulariaceae family native to dry to semi-arid regions of Asia. Do not be influenced by the delicacy of this plant, which does not at all reveal its robustness. This perennial plant, grown in our climates as an annual, has given rise to numerous cultivars, which all have good drought and heat tolerance and do not seem to attract insects or diseases.

The 'Angelface Carrara' variety is taller than it is wide. It forms a clump 60cm (24in) tall when in bloom, with a spread of 30cm (12in). The plant produces floral stems from May to October, grouping together numerous white flowers measuring 2cm (1in) in diameter, somewhat reminiscent of small orchids. The flowers open among the foliage, which is composed of small shiny green, alternate, entire, and lanceolate leaves.

The Angelonia Angelface Carrara White is an essential, robust plant, ideal for quickly creating a summer setting. This plant withstands heat and rain. It is a good choice for flower beds, containers, and rock gardens. It is wonderful in mixed containers with petunias or dark-leaved morning glories, trailing geraniums, diascias, trailing verbenas, and many other sun-loving species. It also makes long-lasting cut flowers.

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered location (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once the risk of frost has passed definitively.

Planting and care

Plant your Angelonia in a sunny or partially shaded position. They require a light, well-drained and humus-bearing soil and benefit from fertilization. They tolerate fairly dry soil quite well. You can plant your Angelonia in a pot or in the ground. In pots, they should be regularly watered. Regularly removing faded flowers will encourage the growth of new flowers.
